I’m a 30 year old investment banker. Well, I used to be before I resigned and decided to take time out for some travel with no set end date.

I had a huge health scare in 2015 when I found out I had a brain tumour. You can read about that here: Frank the tumour. That experience taught me a whole lot about myself. One thing that had a resounding impact on me is that i’m fearful of living a life with regret.

Travelling and exploring has been ‘my thing’ since as long as I can remember, and I take every opportunity to go and see something new. Unfortunately, having a full time job means you have 25 days a year within which to actually do what you love outside the working environment. The plan was to always do some long term travelling but, like most of us, we get stuck in the present and risk never doing this. Although the tumour was certainly the worst event in my life, it made me see the light and kicked me into gear, thus ensuring I get out there and see our planet.

I’m seriously lucky that I can say i’m now well and tumour-free. All that is left for me to do now is get out there and see this blue ball we call home.
