This planet doesn’t stop amazing me with its beauty. I just finished a 10 day, 120km circuit around the Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru and I’m left gobsmacked by how incredible this planet is!
Completing this trek has been on my bucket list for a long time. The seed was planted after meeting a fellow backpacker back in 2009 when I was in Cairo, climbing in the Great Pyramid of Giza. After researching the trek, I had no doubt that it was something I needed to do one day, and now that I’ve completed it, I can totally understand why the Huayhuash circuit is held in such high regard.
The Cordillera Huayhuash is a mountain range just outside Huaraz in Peru. The trek is effectively a circuit around the mountain range. It took us 10 days and we covered 120kms which saw us crossing 9 high mountain passes and camping above 4000m above sea level on most days.
I could wax lyrical about this trek for quite some time, but to spare you that, I’ll let the photos do the talking.
Wow your photos are stunning! I am dying to do this trek, but now stuck at home wih a kid so it will be a while! Truly one of the worlds great treks!
