The temples of Angkor. Wow! The collection of temples made me wish I was born a few centuries ago to be amongst one of the few to have discovered them. They’re gobsmackingly beautiful. Most of them were being built around 900AD and are still standing. Quite a feat when you think that the average skyscraper in China only lasts 20 years!
I’m the guy that is always 10 minutes early for everything. I’m not the guy that misses a bus or a plane. I’m never late for a meeting and I try to know my plan, know the duration of a trip, and know when to get off a bus. This went pear-shaped enroute to Battambang, however.
I’ve just arrived back to mainland Cambodia after spending a few days on Koh Rong Samloem… a tropical island an hour off the coast. I can hear the collective sighs of ooh and aah from here, but honestly, I was left a little frustrated and disappointed with it. It’s a tropical island, how bad can it be?
We throw around this word ‘genocide’ sometimes without really understanding what it means. The word obviously is a fearful, brutal one… ‘the intentional act to destroy a people in whole or in part’. Absorb that for a second. DESTROY a people.
